I spent more than 20 years self medicating my undiagnosed ADHD with alcohol, drugs and other unhealthy behaviors because I didn’t have the proper tools to cope.
After receiving a formal ADHD diagnosis at the age of 41, I finally took control of my addictions and made it my mission to strip alcohol of its power and change my beliefs about booze being a reward.
Today, I help others do the same through my 1:1 coaching and online courses. We use Mindful Awareness Practices in order to manage your triggers and cravings, be less impulsive, remember what you are doing in the moment, and regulate the intense emotions that often accompany ADHD. You will learn the truth about alcohol so that you no longer see alcohol as a reward. We will train your brain to break bad habits, create healthy coping strategies and eliminate your desire to drink without using willpower and without feeling deprived.

My coaching methodology is focused on providing personalized support, education, and accountability to help clients free themselves from shame, achieve their goals and overcome the challenges associated with self medicating ADHD with alcohol and other unwanted behaviors.

For most of my life, I felt uniquely flawed. I struggled in school and at work. I had difficulty making and keeping friends and maintaining healthy relationships. I felt unable to control my emotions and always wondered what was wrong with me. However, when I drank alcohol, it seemed to magically give me a sense of relief. It helped me pretend to be someone else. It was the only tool I had to cope with my pain, loneliness and frustration.
In my early 40s, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Finally an explanation for my struggles! I realized that I had spent more than 20 years self medicating my ADHD symptoms with alcohol. Drinking was the easiest and fastest way to shut off that constant negative chatter in my brain, but over time, had led to addiction. I then learned that people with ADHD are much more likely to develop alcohol use disorder >25% of adults being treated for alcohol and substance use disorders are diagnosed with ADHD.
I wasn't broken. I wasn't an "alcoholic". I abused substances because I didn’t have the proper tools to cope with my ADHD. I made it my mission to strip alcohol of its power and change my beliefs about booze being a reward.
